Hyde Go Hide

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a story about two men that transform into one. Like everyone who doesn’t know when to stop, Dr. Jekyll was a person that went to far. When Jekyll used his formula that turned him into Hyde, is changed him both physically and mentally. Just like the ying and the yang, Jekyll is perceived as the good guy and Hyde, the bad. This short stories main point was to get at was that everyone has both good and evil in them, and what these 2 men struggle at fiding is their search for human personalities. The men are battle between good and evil rages within the individual.  By the end of the story it is apparent that Dr. Hyde which is also the bad guy, takes over which in result, Dr. Jekyll will never be himself anymore.

An example of this is the movie, The Nutty Professor. This movie is based on the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, but is played out in a more comedic way. The story plays out, The professor finds an antidot that will change him from a chubby, older guy with glasses to a skinny, handsome but abnoxious man. The professor enjoys his slimmer lifestyle but everything gets out of hand. The professor wants nothing to do with the other version of him but the bad guy insists that there will be no more of the professor and the new version of him will take over, forever. It is the ultimate fight between good and evil. The only difference between the original story to the movie is that the good guy gets to keep his life.

The moral lesson of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is that yes we may have good and evil in us, but it’s whatever temptations we give into that will ultimately create our paths in life. Although you might have better reasons for choising the better but wrong choice, you have to look at what’s already given to you and work from there. (340)
